Welcome tothe club,
I have looked at the specs of your TV and it has 3x HDMI and should you are using a good quality HDMI to HDMI cable as when you toggle Fn+F5 it should automatically detect the best possible resolution I've been looking for the 1920x1080p specnot easy to find but I'm sure it is pumping out that resolution

Here this link forum seems to indicate a system restore might be the culprit. Drivers are always something to consider with sony so check the vaio link website for driver updates first then. Try deleting the driver in the device manager and reinstalling the sony drivers if that doen't work then the intel drivers from their website

Welcome to the club, Fn+F5 setup (and toggle between monitors) will bring up the vaio control centre you can change the way monitor is detected and right click in the task bar on the powr option to automatically redetect the external display as HDMI

try a system restore using the recovery process...inserting your recovery disk this will give you a clean system restore even less inhibited than safe mode.

i assume you have done a system restore to a time before the problem with the sound loomed up. Also if you go into the device manager and open up the tree under audio uninstall the driver and restart

I would say the factory would install the hidden partition and the recovery disks would be a secondary non hidden partition replacing process. I can't muster the hidden partition after using recovery disks but please check for other advice as it may be my AR model saving space

Use the 30 day trial of Tune up utilitieshere . Do all it reccommends it will have your registry defraged before you know it and will give you the non lossey or non laggy system you want

Sony XP drivers for the FJ have not been made. You have to go for a vista. If you software need XP try setting up a dual boot to read your disk and carry on with XP and Vista. You can do this with partition pro and a copy of vista

Yes this is why a burn't disk may work as it will be without original 'false/true' tags. Give it a go otherwise you are up for more disks at £55

Applicable to all VAIO notebooks
In the BIOS:

(Re)start your VAIO.
Press F2 repeatedly when you see the Sony logo.
You should see the serial number in the Main section.
Applicable to all VAIO VGN-Notebooks and VGC-Desktops
In VAIO Control Center:

Click Start.
Click All Programs.
Browse to and click VAIO Control Center.
Browse the VAIO Control Center for System Information and double-click it.
A new window System Information is opened. You should see the serial number in the Product Information section.

Only Sony Drivers are compatable with the Sony hardware. If it ain't broke don't fix it seems to be the best advice for the wireless. Try rolling back the drivers and using the sony updates only and uninstall the switcher.exe

Mmmm quite a pickle you got there. Clean the recovery disks and your optical drive with a proper cd cleaning set. Boot up with recovery disk one in the drive and recover the c drive. If still no go then burn copies of the recovery DVD on a quality DVD-R this sometimes sorts a corrupted copy enough to get a green light

try a system restore to a time before the errant software load. Get the free avg from the internet and test it. Also set a restore point using another computer and after cleaning it test your disk. If it does the same thing take it back to the vendor as you do sometimes get a dud

fraid 6 months covers the adapter so shop around by typing in the model number shown on the adapter into good old google. I would imaging it is no more that £50

Go into your device manager by rightclick computer>properties>device manager and the forth icon down is disk drives. Open the tree and you should find your sd1 device. Try reinstalling it by deleting it and then rebooting and enable -- disable. If the icon is not there then try a system restore to a time when it worked.

Install here firefox until the problem is fixed on numerous reboots. Also try a system restore to a time before the explorer went wonky.

Batteries have been a issue with Sony for quite some time which means they have focused their priorities in the battery area but still some batteries are not performing. Best practice is to remove the battery when using the lappie at home and prey for no power outs. Pop it back in once a month to keep it tip top. This shouldn't need to be done if the battery is working properly as it has stand alone management to regulate the temperature and charge so only discharge and recharge will wear the battery however this is not the case for all batteries so better to leave it out of the battery bay and keep it in you're laptop bag.

Yeah we all have had hardships with vaio and sometimes you get a lemon optical drive. Its great kit and replacing the optical drive was off putting straight off the mark ..day one.

If you are using any other device driver other than sony it will carry the video but not the audio. You are forced to connect to a stereo using the audio jacks.

Better takedown that Ip address just incase it is yours. Did you try a system restore to a time when the settings worked with your BT Broadband. Otherwise I fixed a feable connection using a dongle in a fringe connection range by restarting about five times. You can CMD> PING ip so and so but at the end of the day you need the software to handshake with the right driver updates in relation to microsoft updates in use at the time. Get a computer with a commection and get the updates you need for a Vista Service Pack 1 update status +

Only use the drivers from Vaio Update Utility via the Vaio Link website. The hardware is Vaio specific and needs to have Vaio flavour of drivers for the system to be stable. If they don't make the drivers for it then ATI catalyst may work if you create a restore point but I wouldn't be a safe bet
